Daniel’s sponsored hair cut

We have visited Grove Primary School in Trowbridge on a number of occasions to talk to Years 4 and 5 and it has always been a most rewarding experience, with the children showing a genuine interest in life in South India.   In fact some of their questions are extremely thought provoking!  They enjoyed the projects we arranged with their teachers which included locating various places of interest on a map of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, practising Tamil script writing and dressing up in South Indian costumes.  After our visit the children in Year 5 had the idea of organising a cake sale in aid of the children and raised an amazing £100.

Daniel Marsh-Jones, who was then aged 10, went home to his mother and said he wanted to help the children he had seen on our film by getting sponsorship to have his very long hair shaved off!!  Luckily she was not averse to this idea, as she had been trying to get him to cut his hair for years!  Daniel is a member of Trowbridge Junior Rugby section and he had his hair cut on Sunday 28th June 2009 at Trowbridge Rugby Club after their end of season award ceremony.

Daniel raised £200 in sponsorship!! He is a great lad and we think this is an incredible and selfless gesture for a young lad to make in support of children more 5,000 miles away.
